The desktop profile takes care of most of the USE flags I want, and I use package.use for everthing else (really not that much)

I don't see why all you people needs so many USE flags in your make.conf

USE="-cups doc -gnome -gtk -ipv6"
PORTAGE_NICENESS="19"

They contain the stable system, basically the same as the weekly ones that are just coming out, but they're less buggy (because they're less new) and they are ususally more recent ...

Then right click and use "Remove from Playlist" and it will be removed from your playlist. I believe that there is also an option to blacklist a track so that it doesn't show up in an of the dynamic playlists. Again, I think it is in the right click menu.

Re: Annoying Amarok

Hi there...
Well, I've been trying to use a program to manage my album collection, 'cause lately it became really big... Well, I'm trying Amarok. It has some very nice features, I can edit the ID3 tags on fly, it can organize my files in a direcory tree to me, and get their cover... etc.

But ...

Compiz missing composite extension

$ compiz --replace
compiz (core) - Fatal: No composite extension

That's what I get when I try "compiz --replace" (and the command with extra options outlined in the Compiz Gentoo Guide, so that's not the problem).

I'm using the ati-driver's newest version (in ~x86) (fglrx), the newest version of ...

Thanks, that worked. I had to tweak it a bit more, but it starts X and boots into an openbox enviroment.

But the problem is that it does not register mouse movement. I can use the right and left clicks, and the openbox menu comes up, but it doesn't register the mouse moving around...

I changed ...

Okay, the newer version of the ati-drivers installed, and now when I try to startx, I get this message:

(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:

and the whole .log if you need it:

ati-drivers not installing, can't startx

The ati-drivers package won't install, and gives me this error when I try to emerge ati-drivers:
