Dear All
I'm behind a firewall with scanner and the http fetches doesn't always go through...

I used to be able to emerge and delta-sync over HTTPS from distfiles.gentoo.org but now that seems no longer working. I have a --no-check-certificate in the fetch commands and the https_proxy is set up ...

Yes well ... don't know what happened but I usually do update almost every day and I did yesterday, and now it works again and openrc is updated.
Nice Christmas gift...

Now only the hwclock problem at shutdown is still there, but I can live with that...

Here is the result after a clean boot... the last command didn't work.
I also added the restart of the wlan after so you can see how it behaves...

my /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf looks like this and i works with or without the wpa_supplicant_wlan0_="-Dwext" in the net file... at least did because right now I have another problem with dhcp but thats another thread...

Thanks for your help.
Not much different than before wlan1 became wlan0 as expected but no ip at bootup

So still the same until /etc/init.d/net.wlan0 restart
then I receive an IP and it's working again
here is the result:

Turns out, the link is up, but for some reason dhcp client doesn't run after it is started. If I manually run "sudo dhcpcd wlan1" it works fine.
I have the config_wlan1=( "dhcp" ) in the /etc/conf.d/net.

iwl3945 not running at bootup [solved]

Dear All
A few days ago after the update world I got two problems:

1. The wifi iwl3945 is not running automatically when I boot. The blue led on the wifi button is on but I get no IP until I press the button off and on again. This is ok but I wonder why?

Found it ... /var/lib/portage/world_sets had an entry for kde-4.2 that I removed and now it works. I still don't know why it ended up there now....

It was the OpenRC that didn't got installed because of the git:// protocol was blocked in my firewall.
Anyway I did what you said.. cd boot chroot...emerge baselayout ... Now it works

[solved] No /sbin/rc

Dear All
I got a problem after a emerge --update world.

First it told me that mktemp is blocking coreutils so I unmerged mktemp.

Then everything seemed to be fine but when I reboot I get no /sbin/rc
I cannot log in because it says something like it doesn't know my tty name.
I guess this leaves me ...

I have a problem
I usually have at least 2 or 3 ip on my eth0 interface.
I need this because I use my computer to communicate to different machines, PLCs and other industrial equipment. Some of those are on different subnets...
It works great but if I unplug the LAN cable and plug it it ...

Is it possible to run the fetch from portage under https? I have set the GENTOO_MIRRORS="https://distfiles.gentoo.org/ " and it just tells me "Unable to establish SSL connection" so I guess there is a certificate problem.

We have a proxy with an antivirus scanner in the corporate gate out ...

I think the Live Cd is using Swap partition if he can find it... so when you try to install, then the partitioning will not work because the swap partition is in use... I went around it just by doing
swapoff -a
Then the Partitioning worked...

But I never have seen it hang in the useraccount setp ...

I have used Quantian that has openMosix and it works but the problem with live CD is that it usually need quite a lot of RAM so I had some problems using it on 256 but it is ok with 512.
