sorry for very delayed answer :)

But likely it's broken QCA lib. It's still not fixed in 2024. Workaround is to compile qca without gpg support, or compile psi-9999 from rion overlay, which has patched bundled qca.

I tried to switch to binary distros a few times but ended up with Gentoo anyway.
Well wrt LEGO probably it's easier to switch to something in between like Arch Linux, Calculate Linux, Chrome OS etc

As far as I remember vscode is something like "unpack and use".
Of course it's cool to have an ebuild but not having any ebuild doesn't complicate anything and maybe even makes some things working like internal software updates.

Regarding "obsoleted". Our web site is obsoleted definitely. But I keep working on Psi. I'm kind of principal developer/project owner for both Psi and Psi+. But Psi+ is 99% merged to Psi, so "extras" flag is mostly useless.

The only major missing thing in Psi is MAM (server-side history).

Just in case. Reproduced on old kernel too. So the problem is not in kernel. and maybe I misinterpreted Fn keys behaviour. In any case they work fine with 4.14.65 kernel, not sure about others.

So what really happens from my last observations..

I use xfce now. and there are 3 timers for display in ...

display backlight is somewhat broken

Hi

After some recent updates something is wrong with my laptop's display. As usually it's turned off by timeout but now I have to switch to terminal (cctrl+alt+f1) and back to turn it on.
Also functional keys for display brightness do not work anymore.

Does anyone have any idea?

samba and /var/lock

Just noticed next in the installation log of samba
* Installation of a directory is blocked by a file:
* '/var/lock'
* This file will be renamed to a different name:
* '/var/lock.backup.0000'
This is a fresh installation of Gentoo. And in the latest stage3 /var/lock is a symlink to /run/lock ...

Re: Working ebuild of skypeforlinux 8.11.0.4

Looking at the ebuild from the github URL you posted, I'd guess that it probably would have worked for me, though it looks like it's missing some dependencies (but those would likely be installed on any system that has an X desktop environment).
feel free to make a pull request ;-)

Hardware acceleration never worked in Firefox with ati-drivers. hwaccel flag just force-enables it, but the result is unusable browser. If you want hardware acceleration, switch to open source drivers or use Chome (it supports hardware acceleration with ati-drivers).
Chrome was my option. Works ...

Interesting. How did you measure that? Is this about build time or running performance?
btw I have noticed something similar with my flags too.

gcc-4.8.1 + graphite flags

I just reemerged world with gcc-4.8.1 an graphite c[xx]flags.
the system seems to be mostly stable, but I had to mask grahite flags for some packages.

here they are
dev-qt/qtcore no-graphite.conf
dev-qt/qtscript no-graphite.conf
dev-qt/qtwebkit no-graphite.conf
dev-qt/qtgui no-graphite.conf ...
