I have the same problem. I have enabled radiotap in my .config but I still get the kismet error "kismet server not reporting power levels".

I used to get power levels with the external driver that has now been removed from portage.

Any ideas?

I just experienced this problem for the first time yesterday after months of having a stable i915 system. I tried to play a video file in mplayer and it crashed with exactly the same error. :(

Thanks very much. The results of the equery told me that /dev/sg0 was the offending device. I changed the group et voila burn burn burn!
