As in the subject. I have updated firefox to version 1.5.2 and to the newest stable mplayer. After that mplayerplug-in stopped working. Now it loads the movie than it shows "stopped". Is there any good substitute of this plugin?

There's the totem media player and plug-in. You could also try re-installing mplayerplug-in.

I have already re-installed it. When it comes to totem, I don't like it.

Thank goodness for Gentoo forums. Finally got mplayerplug-in working and it's actually better than the WMP plugin on my windows machine (plays nhl.com videos without stopping after about a minute).

if $ touch .mplayer/default.sub should make mplayerplug-in to work again: here it doesn't...

* stopped firefox
* reemerged mplayerplug-in, latest version (net-www/mplayerplug-in-3.25)
* touched .mplayer/default.sub
* restarted firefox, plugin starts download/buffering, then it stopps and stays stopped (regardless what i do)

At the time i try to start the video playback, firefox spits out these warning

Code: Select all

(Gecko:6079): Gtk-WARNING **: Can't set a parent on widget which has a parent
I found a Gentoo Bug related to the Gtk-WARNING above.

This problem keeps happening on and off for me, and the default.sub fix has not worked.

hi all,

I am having this problem also. I have tried the default.sub as suggested about, I have followed this link http://www.gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_mplayerplug-in, I have reinstalled firefox and mplayer and mplayerplug-in. I am at a loss as to where to go from here. Has anyone got any other suggestions?

I am using mplayerplug-in 3.25, mplayer dev-CVS-060415-08:32-3.4.5 and firefox 1.5.0.4

thank you in advance for any suggestions and help you might have.
