Portage has 32 bit versions of the needed software. (mplayer-bin, firefox-bin, and openoffice-bin)
Unless you use some of the more "less" used or "standard" software, you probably won't need a 32 bit chroot.

As for Wine, Wine runs fine in the 64 bit environment. All the apps ...

Funny i have quite the same system than you. I didn't install the 64 bit system yet, because of the problems you are facing now with cedega. I hope some one can help you. If so i'll go and install it myself today.
