I just bought an ATI 2900XT graphics card. Card installation and 8.42.3 drivers installation went smoothly. I just have one big problem in WoW: I cannot see my character nor other characters sc  . Also, the login screen has a dark background, but I can see graphics effects like fog and ...
Hi, each time I start a gstreamer-related sound application like rhythmbox or totem, it crashes miserably at reading any audio file, regardless of the audio file type. Following is the crash information collected by bug-buddy when I start "rhythmbox file.pm3".
I found this post on the same topic https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-290848-highlight-cdda+uri+handler.html but it doesn't give a hint other that the problem could be a missing cable between CD player and motherboard. But I don't believe that because I already played CDs on this computer. Any ...
Hi, I am currently unable to play audio CDs, although I rebuilt my complete system. I tried using totem, rhythmbox, mplayer for playing CDs, or sound-juicer for extracting them: totem complains that there is no URI handler for cdda:///dev/sr0, rhythmbox is crashing when I insert an audio CD, mplayer ...
I also have this problem of X crashing every time I want to restart/stop: - if log out of gdm and try to reboot/stop the machine, the screen goes black and the box freezes - if I am still in the gnome session and tell gnome to directly restart/stop the machine, the box freezes with the gnome ...
If you want to emerge this ebuild, you need to create a new eclass named "gnome2-modified.eclass" in your ${PORTDIR_OVERLAY}/eclass directory. In bug #87469, you will find a patch to apply to the existing /usr/portage/eclass/gnome2.eclass.
As for the hbci error, I didn't noticed it before. I will ...
Tried. Still doesn't work. I had some emails conversation with vapier, the author of the guide. Still no clue. I handled the problem to my flat mate. He will try to get a home router on his windows computer working. We'll see if he can manage it.
I just rebuild the 2.6.12-gentoo-r4 kernel with the strictly necessary options, as indicated in the official Gentoo guide. No clue. Still doesn't work. I feel/fear I must dive into iptables caveats .
Here are the messages I get on the server after typing ipconfig /release & ipconfig /renew on the PC and then trying to open a web page with firefox on the PC:
Jul 10 19:44:59 hortensia dhcpd: DHCPRELEASE of 192.168.0.250 from 00:10 ...
I'm pretty sure it only comes from my firewall. Booting the PC with a gentoo LiveCD diesn't help, the server still blocks the traffic ... I'm gonna try again, maybe with firestarter.
Hello all, I followed the Home router howto from the gentoo documentation. I have one server, a linux computer with address 192.168.0.1. One Windows XP PC is behind the router. I can access and browse the internet on the server without any problem. I can access the server from the PC. I can resolve ...
Come on, don't take it too seriously I was just calling for more interaction. Finally, you were right to let me struggle with this because you did not have time and because I succeeded in writing this small ebuild
Hmmm, I think I get it: the gnucash post is refering to the install phase during which you must not fix the prefix. I fixed the prefix during the _compilation_ phase, which is OK.
Then there is this DESTDIR thing. Maybe we should just let it as in the last ebuild.
