I tried 2.6.13.2-nitro1 before and wasn't very impressed (it seems like a lot of people had trouble), but this new version makes me very happy that I tried Nitro out again. Great stuff. Thanks for getting this released.
Well that makes sense. I kind of assumed I had to use it because all my programs were complaining about alsa not being configured. Anyway, I recompiled the kernel again (with no changes).. and now it works just fine. *shrugs*
I did my second install of Gentoo last night. Everything went perfectly, and then I established that I had no sound. I built alsa into the kernel, so I emerged alsa-utils and alsa-tools. I configured the volume in alsa mixer. Then I went to run alsaconf ...
No luck. Find as you type partially worked, but that was the only thing I could get out of it. So the patches aren't breaking anything at least. I still don't know what is though.
I pulled out the Cairo stuff, and tried to get the ebuild to use a mozconfig similar to the one used in the official nightly builds. I don't know if it will fix anything, but I can hope. It's compiling now. Will update in a few hours when I've had time to test it.
I see... still sounds weird, since the only thing in .mozilla is the profile. I might try it though...
I've already run CVS builds though, in fact I'm running one from the 7th right now. Being able to compile the CVS nicely through portage would be nice though.
Not to sound like a n00b, but hey, that's what it says under my name...
How would that do anything different than creating a new profile afterward and trying it out? I did that and got the same results with the ebuild. I didn't think Firefox did anything profile related until you tried to start it?
I'm not having much luck with this ebuild. It compiles fine, but when I run it I can not download any files, and find doesn't work at all... it also seems to do something weird with the bookmarks. They appear to be gone, but can be restored by going to manage bookmarks. Really strange, perhaps it's ...
It didn't come with anything for me either, I fixed that by emerging xmms-alsa, xmms-wav, and xmms-mpg123. That should give you wav, and mp3 support anyway.
I upgraded to the new KDE, and the fonts for my desktop icons now appear awkward. All other fonts on the computer look fine.
Here's an image showing how it looked, and how it looks now. How I saw it in 3.3 on the left, and 3.4 on the right. I want the text to look like 3.3 again.
