docbook-xml-dtd-4.2 emerge error

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

docbook-xml-dtd-4.2 emerge error

while emerging docbook-xml-dtd-4.2, i get an error at the end :

Code: Select all

>>> original instance of package unmerged safely
find: /usr/share/xml: No such file or directory
could not locate docbookx.dtd for DocBook XML
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
>>> app-text/docbook-xml-dtd-4.2 merged.
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
with 4.1.2-r3 there's no problem, the build-docbook-catalog command seems to work, but not after emerging 4.2.
what's wrong ?

Search on "docbook dtd" you should get several hits that may or may not be helpful. Also, check out:

i did what the hint says, but i get again the same error while emerging docbook-xml-dtd-4.2. :cry:
the ebuild seems to install its files in /usr/share/sgml/docbook/xml-dtd-4.2 but the build-docbook-catalog script looks for docbookx.dtd in /usr/share/xml which doesn't exist.
the build-docbook-catalog included with docbook-xml-dtd-4.2 pkg seems to be related to 4.1.2 version.
how could i decently correct this bug ?

I had your same problem. A fixed build-docbook-catalog script is available here:

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52725

Anyway, some issues with docbook are still unfixed:

For every problem there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong.
