I don't know, but I would imagine that the Linux binaries would be on the same cd... It would make sense to do that anyway.

truly said,
but from what i hear the release of Doom 3 will feature the Linux and Windows version in the box so you can install the Linux ver on Linux or Windows ver on Windows(or Windows ver on Linux with WineX what ever u like)
If its true, then not only do i have a reason to save up money, but it will make me prouder of ID for actually including linux version into the release

Doom 3 will come on the same cd. Just like UT2004. And it will be much better, because it is in OpenGL, which of course linux is better at.

UT2004 is in OpenGL, there is no DirectX wrapper.

What would be the point of not putting a linux binary on a linux game's CD? I have been wondering all this time if ID will put a binary of the windows port on the CD so I can play it without needing to download anything ;)

He seemed to be implying that UT2004 wasn't "in OpenGL", which I assume meant he thought that it was "in SomethingElse".

Doom 1 was Scary, Doom 2 was sacrier and made me crap my pants on LVL2 ( iwas young back then), then i discovered QUAKE 1 which was so scary i quit playing it after lvl 2, Quake2 was a todler type game and not scary at all even on the "scariest lvl of the game", After finishing Q2 i finshed Q1, Unreal was creepy in some parts but not scary. UNREAL 2 was really beautiful/scray type of game (because of the improved graphics). What im really expecting from DOOM3 is -------> Serious Sam type of gameplay, With the Creepyness of Quake 1+2 and DOOM 1+2, and the graphics that are really great as expected in HL-2 and made in U2 and the enviroments in the style of UT2k4.
This is pretty much what i saw in the D3 trailer but dought that it will be as beautifull as UT2k4 outdoors since alot of ppl say that the outdoor scenery is a red sky with dark earth and crappy made, everyone says that the game was basically an "INDOOR SHOOTER" which if true is not that great, everyone need to go outside and shoot some baddies in fresh air.Oh well if the rumers are true, then we better hope that Doom4(if it will be in production) will take advantage of the OUTSIDE and not INSIDE.

I mean comeon a game thats fully inside a building is kinda weak, UT2k4 isn't a great game because of the vehicles (Well a part of it is) but for the OUTDOORS and the fresh air and light in ur face with wet grass and dust and pigeon crap falling from the sky (well that will be an improvement to make it more realistic, but u get my point)

Whos With me on that ?

The idea for DooMIII is for it to be a 'Horror Game'. Just like we have Horror Moves, we will have a Horror Game. Oh boy, this is going to be fun. I remember being scared out of my fucking mind when I was younger, so a game that can (hopefully) have adults squirming in their seats is something to look forward to. :D

Hope that when it comes out that the critics will give it the Highest Gore/Horror Grade (WAY ABOVE Mature, Not even close to MATURE).

If it's what ppl say then the INDOOR levels should be made that dang perfect (I hate playing games that are based on Indoor enviroments)

I'm not completely with you. Imagine being on a space station on Mars (Is D3 set on Mars? Tell me if I'm wrong here.) and then going outside. You won't find much fresh air there. Sure, you could wear a space suit, but that would severely impair your movement and increase your vulnerability.
Ah, maybe I'm just too concerned with realism here. It's Doom after all...

Well from about space suits ur way off! Its the future, man mad it to mars and found a way to live there without the use of huge bulky space suits. Ever play Unreal2? the spacesuits they wear in U2 are like ordinarry cloth, plus U2 is set a litttle bit earlier than Doom3 so use ur imagination ok ITS A FANTASY RUN AND GUNN WHILE SCARING THE SHIT OUTTA U GAME

Doom3 will not ship with linux support on the cd. I'm incredibly disappointed in this personally... makes me think twice about jumping to buy it. At least Epic was nice enough to put it in the box for ut2004.

That does suck yes, but on the other side: epic choose direct3d and made a less optimized opengl build (and they didnt port unreal2)

So for promoting multiple platform 3d support (opengl) and for making a linux port I am going to put some of my money in carmacks pockets (and not gabe/valves pockets)
In "old" Europe we already have a word for "pre-emptive strikes" mr Bush: its called "war"

dUUde get over it! the quake3 linux binary wasn't in the quake3 box, that doesn't mean that id suck. They just haven't finished it yet. Linux binary will be available for download soon after the game is released.
Keep in mind that id itself is doing the porting, which is something (almost?) no other popular game companies do. UT2004 was ported by icculus.org, not by epic.

Epic hired ryan "icculus" gordon to port ut2004, he is currently still working there, you are on crack.

Duuuude you need to relax a bit. I never said anything about id sucking. I happen to be a big fan of id. I didn't even say that I wasn't going to buy the game. I already know the Linux binary will be available for download, as I read it right there in the article that I linked to. Although someone already pointed you out as being wrong, who ported UT2004 is completely irrelevant -- I bought it and went home and installed it without having to wait around for downloads to be released days or weeks later, which Doom3 won't be capable of. So, um, you get over it, duuuude. No need to get so excited.

haha everyone likes my 'dUUde'

anyway, ryan does ports of all sorts of stuff, but he's not one of the core developers of the game. that's all i'm saying, sorry if i misinterpreted you verbatim.
