hello world !

i have a big problem with using my pcmcia wlan draytec vigor 520 card:
my old notebook always freezes after i insert the pcmcia card :-(
(with windows it runs out of problems...)
anyway i seemed to be lucky because there is a supported driver for me with ndiswraper which i have installed already without any troubles.
but how should i use it as long as my system hangs up by inserting it ?!

if i stop hotplug, my system is not going down totally.
but it does not actualize the console screen i am using and the cursor of the console stays at his possition. very strange!
i can not do so :-(

please help me getting the card running.
cause no one of us wants me using windows, or ?!

thank you!

Hi, I have a problem with wlan like You. I have a Belkin F5d6020 ver.2, which should run with the atmel drivers from thekelleys.org/atmel ..., but after inserting the card my System freezes. After stopping the pcmcia daemon there is no problem with inserting the card, but when I start pcmcia again with

Code: Select all

/etc/init.d/pcmcia start
the system hangs again. I have no experiences made with hotplug, the system hangs in both cases (is hotplug is started or not).
A few weeks ago I had another installation of gentoo on my laptop (nx9005) and there was no problem running wlan with this card. I could not localize the problem, yet, but I am working at it...
Verbringe die Zeit nicht mit der Suche nach einem Hindernis - Vielleicht ist keines da.

Do you have ISA still compiled into the kernel? Missing ISA support brought my pc-card to a complete computer freeze
