Help with creation, editing, or playback of sounds, images, or video. Amarok, audacious, mplayer, grip, cdparanoia and anything else that makes a sound or plays a video.

Can't volume up and volume down with special keys

Hello
I've LG C1 laptop.
I try to configure my volume up, volume down & mute.
So, I add the next lines to /etc/X11/Xmodmap:

Code: Select all

keycode 160 = XF86AudioMute
keycode 174 = XF86AudioLowerVolume
keycode 176 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume
I run the next command each startup:

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/xmodmap /etc/X11/Xmodmap
But I get only mute to work. When I press vol up I get the max to 11%. When I press vol down I get to the minimum (0%), but I can still hear sound.

How could I resolve this problem?

Thanks.

still hearing sound at volume 0 may be normal (some sound cards don't totally mute it unless mute is selected), but as to why it's limiting at 11%, I don't know there :(

Hmmm...

Sounds almost the same as this

In the past, Mute didn't work, but Volume did,

Now, Mute works, but volume buttons toggle between 0 and 11% on display (but doesn't change the volume)

I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for but I prefer to use the package 'lineakd' to handle my multimedia keys. vol up/down, mute all work, I never could get gnome + XF86keymaps to work properly...
