And it's stop.
My bootloader is rEFIt and the disk it's resized like this:
- /dev/sda2 (disk0s2): 32G Mac OS X
- /dev/sda3 (disk0s3): 20G Share beetween Linux and Mac
- /dev/sda4 (disk0s4): 180G for Linux Gentoo
I guess /dev/hda it's the DVD
My configuration:
- Core 2 Duo 2.4
- 4Go Ram
- 250Go Disk SATA 5400
If you have any idea
Please.... |

Try a different LiveCD - keep in mind that 2007.0 is a year old... many new drivers are developed since then that should work just fine.
For example, I installed gentoo most recently from a Fedora livecd

Maybe you should try the latest SystemRescueCD, it's Gentoo based. |

I downloaded many livecd and I tested them.
The result is:
Doesn't work:
- Father Gnome 2.5.2
- Dyne:bolic 2.5.2
- Debian 4.0 R3 AMD64
- Sabayon x86_64 3.4
- Knoppix 5.1.1
- DreamLinux 3.0RC
- FreeBSD 7.0
- NetBSD 2007
- DamSmall Linux 4.2.5
- Puppy Linux 3.01
- SimplyMEPIS 7.0
Work:
- Ubuntu 8.04 Apl6 AMD64
- Ubuntu 7.10 x86
- Ubuntu 7.10 AMD64
- SLAX 6.0.2
- PCLinuxOS Gnome 2.21.2
- Mandriva 2008
- Elive 1.6 Dev
First: I temporally install Ubuntu 7.10 x86 on my share partition. And I install ndiswrapper.
I would like to install gentoo 64bits and everything it's ok until I try the command "chroot". It's like the chroot from ubuntu is not capable to use bash from the gentoo environment. I guess it's because ubuntu environment it's a 32bits and gentoo it's 64bits.
Question is it possible to start an 64bits application in 32bits environment?
Second: I reinstall Ubuntu 7.10 but the AMD64 version. It's install properly but when I tried to start ndiswrapper it's crash. Without the wireless connection I can not continue to install my gentoo partition
Any help will be appreciate |

your crash might have been caused because you tried loading a 32bit windows driver with
a 64bit ndiswrapper...
and to your first thing on "installing ubuntu"... you absolutely don't (!!) need to install
ubuntu in order to use it as an install-environment for your gentoo-installation! Just use
the live-environment ubuntu gives you when booting from the cd/DVD.
another thing: There is a ext3-driver for MacOS and Linux can access HFS+-Partitions.
So, as long as there is no windows installed, you might get happier with more space
for MacOS or Gentoo, whereever you need more space!
Cheers

oh, forgot:
you find the MacOS-Driver for ext3 here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/macext2fs/
And make sure you use the beta, it is way better on tiger and leopard.
The older version tends to crash the system... _________________ - The day Micro$oft produces anything that doens`t suck, is probably the day, they start making vacuum cleaners-

Thanks everyone for your answer.
Rigth now I decided to create my own Gentoo LiveCD base on the version 2007.0. It's an interesting exercice
I have an other computer installed with Gentoo amd64. I take the kernel-config from this computer, set the configuration for the MacBook. Now I'm capable to execute the Initrd and to boot on the system. But it's stay tow pbs:
1 - For some reasons some services refused to start
Code: | ...
* Update Inittab ... [0K]
* WARNING Adding critical service checkroot to the boot runlevel
ln: creating symbolic link `/etc/runlevels/boot/checkroot': No such file or directory
* WARNING Adding critical service modules to the boot runlevel
ln: creating symbolic link `/etc/runlevels/boot/modules': No such file or directory
* WARNING Adding critical service checkfs to the boot runlevel
ln: creating symbolic link `/etc/runlevels/boot/checkfs': No such file or directory
* WARNING Adding critical service localmount to the boot runlevel
ln: creating symbolic link `/etc/runlevels/boot/localmount': No such file or directory
* WARNING Adding critical service clock to the boot runlevel
ln: creating symbolic link `/etc/runlevels/boot/clock': No such file or directory
* WARNING Adding critical service bootmisc to the boot runlevel
ln: creating symbolic link `/etc/runlevels/boot/bootmisc': No such file or directory
* Caching services dependencies ... |
2 - I set the root password on the image but when I try to connect root it's refused my password.
I forgot something but what!!!
I guess I'm very close to have a valid image. If I can identify et solved those two problems it's should be correct.
If you have any suggestions... |
