|
|
Hello, i have posted some questions about problems i had find with gentoo. Now when i check what i have posted i can see some of them remainign [unsolved] and it has been so many time since i last checked them so i would like to delete them as they are completely outdated and aren't helpful for others.
So when some one looks for any information they may appear as result of his/her search. I think its a great practice to be able to delete such unhelpful posts to maintain the forum tidy.

this is a non-issue; but if you're really concerned, edit your posts and replace all text with "<deleted>" |

No, please don't. Point them out to a moderator, we can delete them for you if nothing else is affected by the deletion. |

Ok Ok so if i want to delete a post which i am the owner i have to pass the post's ID to a moderator requesting him/her to delete it? I should do that with a direct message to the moderator, shouldn't I? |

I would say that leaving them be is the best solution. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

That link starts a new reply to this thread. I'm assuming you are referring to this thread. I personally will not be going around deleting posts, and think it is poor netiquette for others to do the same. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense for moderators to go around deleting such threads/posts.
theme, I suggest you do the following:
if "the problem is old and no longer applies"; then do nothing
if "the problem is old and remains unsolved"; then consider providing more information about the problem or perhaps bumping the thread
if "you solved the problem yourself without any help"; then add [SOLVED] to thread title and make a new reply/post detailing what the solution was (for the benefit of others who might have a similar problem and search the forum)
OK? |
