As the title says a newly created user can't use these programs... how can I fix that? |

There's nothing to fix, these apps require root privileges to function. Well, mostly.
They're in /sbin or /usr/sbin and Gentoo by default doesn't have those directories in the PATH variable for normal users. If you want to use them, specify the full path to them, or change the PATH variable. |

If you mean the user can't run it without escalated privileges, that's normal _________________ Good luck

Just a side note... as an ordinary user, I've always been able to run "/sbin/ifconfig" to query my IP on a dhcp network. _________________ .sigs waste space and bandwidth |
