FreeCiv 1.13.0 was just released. Has lots of new features over the old version, including a GTK 2.0 client!
Anyone know when the new emerge will be updated?
Thanks!

LOL!
Anyway, I suspect the ebuild will be updated as soon as the FTP starts letting people in. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

It seems the existing ebuild works for the new version. Try this:
Code: | # cd /usr/portage/app-games/freeciv
# cp freeciv-1.12.0-r2.ebuild freeciv-1.13.0.ebuild
# cd /usr/portage/distfiles
# wget http://www.freeciv.de/mirror/ftp.freeciv.org/freeciv/stable/freeciv-1.13.0.tar.bz2
# emerge freeciv |
ftp.freeciv.org is still caught in the wake of the Slashdot Effect, so you'll have to grab it out of Germany. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

Thanks for those tips delta407. You really support the Gentoo community (I don't mean only this -- but u seem to always try to help out people), thanks! *thumbs up*
Gonna have a try at freeciv as well, looks like fun, although I'm not familiar with it. |

O've done these instructions now, and when I do "emerge -p freeciv" is correctly wants to install freeciv-1.13.0, but it also wants to install xaw3d. Does this mean it will build a Xaw3d client only? Or will it merely do that too, in addition to building a Gtk2 client? (which is what I want) |

when i try to connect to any server i get this:
Code: | sh-2.05a$ civclient
1: Could not open file "/home/gsfgf/.civclientrc"
1: received short packet (type 2, len 3) from server (connection incomplete)
2: lost connection to server
