Everything worked A-OK before I installed these drivers.

Now I get this:
rtr-1 xfree # startx

Code:

XFree86 Version 4.2.0 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600)
Release Date: 18 January 2002
        If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is
        newer than the above date, look for a newer version before
        reporting problems.  (See http://www.XFree86.Org/)
Build Operating System: Linux 2.4.17-r5 i686 [ELF]
Module Loader present
Markers: (--) probed, (**) from config file, (==) default setting,
         (++) from command line, (!!) notice, (II) informational,
         (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
(==) Log file: "/var/log/XFree86.0.log", Time: Tue Apr 23 05:57:27 2002
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/XF86Config"
dlopen: /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.1: undefined symbol: __nvsym02839
(EE) Failed to load /opt/nvidia/modules/extensions/libglx.so
(EE) Failed to load module "glx" (loader failed, 0)

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11.  Server aborting

Even if I take out the Option GLX from XF86Config, It just SEGV's and drops back to the command prompt. When I switch back to the stock XFree86 nv driver, everything works fine.

Anyone see this (yet)?

hmm seems like the module isn't installed properly.. do you have it starting at boot ?

ie in your /etc/modules.autoload

try re-installing both kernel and GLX and add to module autoload, reboot and see if it loads the module properly

echo NVdriver >> /etc/modules.autoload

Wouldn't it complain about unable to init kernel driver in that case?

Either way, it's installed, insmods itself fine, and is the correct version. (2880)

Anything else?

What is your /etc/XF86Config like. It looks like X window is trying to load libGLcore.so, which it shouldn't. Did you take out these lines in the file?

Load "GLcore"
Load "dri"
