new gentoo install apache2 only package and look at the error i get when trying to start apache ..

i have not touched anything on this box .. at all .. i have not even configured apache2 as i was just hoping to http://localhost and get the apache2 temp page saying the install was succesful.

so, i commented out in the apache2.conf

so it starts, no errors

That line is for POSIX shared memory and
has nothing to do with IPC shared memory.
The IPC shared memory monut is internal.

i knew something was wrong when i read this ..

Problem is fixed.. i get the successful start .. no more errors.. and onto better things ... hope this helps someone someday

seems just to be a kernel config oversight ..

i built this box to run testing on apache2, php and mysql .. so i didnt need anything really specific, but i must say ..

it all works well .. no php problems at all ..

After I recompiled and copied my kernel to /boot, I executed "emerge --unmerge apache" and "emerge apache" and it still failed to start.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Turns out this was due to good ole fashioned boneheadedness! Guess what I forgot to mount before I copied over my new kernel with Sys V IPC? ding ding ding You got it: /boot!
