No shutdown/reboot button in gnome-2.28 [Solved]

Hello,

I've got my system restored from tarball and after that my shutdown/reboot buttons are missing the System menu. I don't know if the problem comes from gnome ~2.28 but it seems it could be. I cannot switch users from the same menu moreover. Before the restoration I had these option and gnome-power-manager didn't solve the problem. I can: gnome-power-cmd.sh shutdown but it isn't as nice as the previous menu.

I've searched on internet and in this forum but didn't found any tip to solve the problem yet. Could someone give me a hand please ?

it may be related to consolekit not running.
try
/etc/init.d/consolekit status

is it running ? if not, start it

Thank you ! Starting consolekit and starting it at boot solved the problem.

i'm having this issue as well, where my shutdown menu is missing shutdown/reboot. however, consolekit in this case is running and is set as a boot service. any ideas?

Hi
I don't know if your issue is resolved yet. Most probably you have old versions of either consolekit or dbus.
try to unmask these two items and then emerge them (do also revdep-rebuild)
