'@system' is not a valid package atom.

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

Good Morning, trying to keep my system upto date with

emerge --update --newuse --deep --oneshot @system @world -pv
!!! '@system' is not a valid package atom.

but as you can see i get error's. it worked the other day just fine.

the only thing i changed was to take 'hal' out of my USE statement cause i was getting

* Error: circular dependencies:

('ebuild', '/', 'sys-apps/hal-0.5.11-r4', 'merge') depends on
('ebuild', '/', 'dev-python/pyxf86config-0.3.34-r1', 'merge') (hard)
('ebuild', '/', 'x11-base/xorg-server-1.5.2', 'merge') depends on
('ebuild', '/', 'sys-apps/hal-0.5.11-r4', 'merge') (hard)
('ebuild', '/', 'dev-python/pyxf86config-0.3.34-r1', 'merge') depends on
('ebuild', '/', 'x11-base/xorg-server-1.5.2', 'merge') (hard)

* Note that circular dependencies can often be avoided by temporarily
* disabling USE flags that trigger optional dependencies.

when trying to 'emerge -pv xorg-server'. xorg-server comes in clean now but wantted to update everything
else before i started that.

Thankz

Hi,

are you sure that you are using portage-2.2? It got masked a while ago, because portage-herd want us to test portage-2.1.6 [also known as public beta testing ;] and i might add that it doesn't support sets like @system.

Greets,
Elbar

using what ever came in this mornings sync

emerge -pv portage

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] sys-apps/portage-2.1.6.1 USE="-build -doc -epydoc (-selinux)" LINGUAS="-pl" 0 kB

Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 kB

but like i said it worked like 3 days ago :?

Thankz

ShorTie,

Portage-2.2-rc* has been hard masked in favour of 2.1.6
Portage 2.1.6 provides EAPI-2 without some of the extras.

You need to unmask portage-2.2 if yuo really need it
