|
|
I use nfs to export four directories to another box. All 4 are mounted automatically.
Setup: kernel 2.4.20/21 (identical configs) glibc 2.3.2-r1 with portmap and nfs-utils recompiled, working nicely until "some" update yesterday.
Wthout knowingly changing something, the following happens since a day or two;
Directory one gets mounted without any problem:
| Quote: |
rpc.mountd: authenticated mount request from (null):693 for /home/apps (/home/apps)
|
The (null) strikes me as a bit odd: all hosts and hostnames are known on both machines.
Then, the second directory cannot be mounted:
| Quote: |
mount: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = connection refused
|
I then have to restart nfs on the "server":
| Quote: |
/etc/init.d.nfs restart
|
and then the second directory gets mounted without problems.
Next: the same shit happens for the third share etc.
In short: I have to restart nfs for each share I want to mount.
rpcinfo -p shows NO differences "before" or after mounting.
BUT: looking at the processes, rpc.mountd seems to die after succesfully mounting a share.
What am I doing wrong |

I'm having exactly the same problem, I can mount one NFS share and then it stops working.
I tried downgrading nfs-utils back to 1.0.3 and the problem goes away, so it would appear that something is wrong with nfs-utils-1.0.4.
nfs-utils-1.0.5 came out yesterday, which is only 4 days since 1.0.4 was released so they may have realised there was a bug!
-- Edit --
nfs-utils-1.0.5 fixes this problem. You can just rename the ebuild and update...

Good detective work.
I've filed Bug #24791 for this. |

| OK version 1.0.5 is in portage and I've dropped 1.0.4 out of portage. |
