|
|
Sorry if this is way too much information but I'm not sure where to start. I'm trying to get the onboard sound working with alsa.
During bootup there are a bunch of errors about problems loading i810_sound.o and "insmod error can be caused by incorrect IO or IRQ parameters". My first gentoo install has gone well so far, until this problem.
TIA,
josh

PCI: if you experience problems, try using option 'pci=noacpi' or even 'acpi=off'
trying this might be a good idea.
It's seeams aus if ACPI isn't working for you, or you can try the kernel 2.5

OK, I'm not sure where that option goes (option 'pci=noacpi' or even 'acpi=off').
Should that be in the modules.conf (wait, gentoo wanted that on modules.d/...)? If so, where? |

arggg... Is this right? I still don't understand why so many modules are loading.
I was going to remove all of the alsa drivers and make sure I compiled it to use intel8x0 (I think I did anyway). I'm not sure how to do that. I didn't use emerge, I installed them from tar balls.
Will I need to recompile the kernel? |

Try removing them and emerge the alsadrivers. You may want to take a look at the ALSA section in the doc part of gentoo.org. It shows you exactly how to set it up (which worked for me). _________________ You are unique ... just like everyone else. |
