|
|
I recently downloaded the Gentoo rc4 stage 3 iso and burned a CD. I was going along happily until the part to start the network up occurred. I couldn't get dhcpcd to work. I was able to configure manually, but couldn't figure out the nameserver stuff.
My solution was to continue on with the install, and un tar the stage 3 tar to my hard disk. Then run /mnt/gentoo/sbin/dhcpcd. This runs the dhcpcd that was tarred instead of the boot cd's version. It now works.
If someone could verify that the dhcpcd is bad on the downloaded version (I could just have a bum cd). This may save some people some grief. |

I have had the same problem with a new seimans nic to internet on dhcp. Also net-setup rth0 1st selection fails too. You may have just given me a way to get around this. I have a stage 3 cdlive.
Thanks |

Well, after restartof my install, and using the a partion of the cdlive build, I was able to dhcpcd and got the nic talking to the net. Currently, when I left home, I had a bzImage build in process. A very Nice work around, I hereby lift a ertual cold one in your honor, <g>. Many thanks. Has a bug report be sent in thru the buggy report sys? If not I would not mind doing so.
cheers

| Well I don't know pump, so you'd have to try it yourself. BTW I've just tried installing on a new machine, and I'm still having dhcpcd problems. I just can't tell if it's me or the install. |
