you need to change the ebuild if you want to use emerge since Con Kolivas has changed his naming scheme - but this is easy.

It seems snappier than 6 but I've got a few audio skips with xmms while under a so so load... doing an emerge, listening to music, pulling some files off my news server and browsing these forums.

[edit] I am using XFS on all partitions also.
