Planeshift fails to compile

I've been trying to compile planeshift, but it keeps failing at this one spot, has anybody else had this trouble?

Code: Select all

LinkApplication texparse
C++ src/tools/ase2spr/ase2spr.o
C++ src/tools/ase2spr/spr.o
C++ src/tools/ase2spr/ase.o
LinkApplication ase_2_spr
C++ src/updater/httpclient/updater.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/updaterconfig.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/fileutil.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/md5.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/main.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/registryfile.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/changelist.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/timestamp.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/change.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/registrycreator.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/download.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/error.o
C++ src/updater/httpclient/registry.o
LinkApplication updater
...failed updating 56 target(s)...
...skipped 10 target(s)...
...updated 91 target(s)...

!!! ERROR: app-games/planeshift-0.2.010 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 27, Exitcode 1
!!! (no error message)
Also, does anybody know about how long it will take to compile? It's 81 megs of source, so I didn't know if I'd have to be prepared for another KDE-type wait or worse :)

Thanks

I have the same problem, but there are an extreme amount of errors before this occurs...

Something tells me that either the source is really buggy, or something is terribly wrong here

Exact same thing for me too...anybody know what is causing this?

The ebuilds are very buggy. Look at this thread for details/solutions:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=47987

I posted some fixes for the ebuilds here:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20383
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20181

unfortunately there was no official reaction about these yet, so I have no idea if or when they'll go into portage

Here's another thread on covering this topic: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=51226

I looked at the fixed ebuilds in the other threads, but those don't seem to work. Help anyone?

I was able to build everything with the new ebuilds. However the game runs at a crawling pace. I can't tell whether its lag or my machine. I'm getting ~260ms ping times to the server which is located in Singapore. I think my FPS are usually < 20. Anyone else built Planeshift and run it succesfully?

Also, the playplaneshift wrapper script needed to be fixed for me.

This is what mine looks like now.

Code: Select all

export CRYSTAL=/opt/crystal
export CEL=/usr/games/bin
cd /opt/planeshift
./psclient

Hi

Planeshift didn't work for me at all. I tried the ebuilds (with the different suggested enhancements in various threads here), tried to compile it from scratch (with endless header files not being found - and I don't intend to add various symlinks until I don't recognize my system anymore) and also tried the precompiled stuff. (which ends in GLIBC_2.3.2 not found - it seems that certain libraries from wine are needed)

Based on the screenshots it really seems to be a game with great potential. But I guess I'll wait at least until the next version comes out before I try it again.

Similar problems here. I think CrystalSpace is at least partially to blame for the low FPS rate. Also the lag to the server is quite high, even though they say the rarely have more than 20 people logged on at the same time. I gave up and unmerged everything.

what system specs do you have? (just to see if it makes sense to compile the whole stuff...)
