Problem after emerging ut2003-demo. It loaded and ran fine in the past.

Code:

Can't bind to native class XInterface.GUIController

History:

Exiting due to error

I am running the latest nvidia packages.

I don't believe this is so much a X error as an UT error. Anyone come across this[/code]

Have the same problem. Ut2003-demo ran fine on my computer too, before the new r1 ebuild.

I'm having the same problem. (Kernel 2.4.20-gentoo-r5, Nvidia 1.0.4349-r2, XFree 4.3.0-r2)

Using the installer from Unreal Tournament's official site seems to work fine, but it isn't labled as "r1" :).

Still no solution from me although I've been trying a few things. I'm pretty sure it's unrelated to my system and is a UT2003-demo problem. the XInterface.GUIController is mentioned in the config files of UT2003 for windows.

Still frustrating.

FYI, new install of 1.4 rc4 (converted my last windows pc to linux) w/ the gaming-sources (not too impressed with them yet), and latest nvidia as I've mentioned.

It seems that the problem goes away if you emerge the -r0 package instead - it worked for me at least, but I discovered the game was horrible, nothing at all like my beloved UT.

Hi
Looked at the 2 ebuilds i have
ut2003-demo-2206.ebuild and ut2003-demo-2206-r1.ebuild.
Differences in # Wrapper and benchmark-scripts section.
On a hunch having ut2003-demo-2206.ebuild merged
cp /opt/ut2003-demo/System/IpDrv.so /root
Then emerge ut2003-demo-2206-r1.ebuild.
$ ut2003-demo
Same... as everybody here.
So then
mv /opt/ut2003-demo/System/IpDrv.so /opt/ut2003-demo/System/IpDrv.so-KEEP
cp /root/IpDrv.so /opt/ut2003-demo/System/IpDrv.so
$ ut2003-demo
and success without new IpDrv.so Security patch.
Way over my head even if I had the source!
I wonder how the author of -r1 ebuild
made it run on his gentoo with included security patch?
(Not a gamer here and not going online with this game,
just digging some and having fun)

I just updated Portage and lo and behold there was ut2003-demo-2206-r2 just sitting there waiting to be built. And it works! :D Woo Hoo!
