Tunnelling lpd printer

Ive got a print server hooked up to my printer at home. It serves out the printer on lpd at queue lp2. I want to tunnel 515 to my laptop when I am away from home and be able to print to my home printer.

I know I can do ssh -L<arbitrary port>:print-server-ip:515 and have 515 tunnelled to <arbitrary port> on my laptop. I cant figure out how to make cups print to lpd on <arbitrary port> though. I don't want to have to be root so I can tunnel 515 to localhost 515. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this?

Yeah I saw that article while searching around. Not quite what Im looking for, might have to resort to it though

. Im still hoping someone has done what I am trying to do and has either a better work around or a solution.

I had a quick look at CUPS and it looks like you can do something like this for the device URI:

lpd://localhost:<arbitrary port>/lp2

This might do the trick....

EDIT: That format isn't listed as one of the examples, but it didn't complain when I entered it......
