Do GRP exists at all in 2006.1 ?

I just downloaded the full livecd-i686-installer-2006.1.iso. At least it contains a portage snapshot but no stage3 tarball which I'm downloading now.

I mounted the squashfs image in the livecd to find the largest files and I can't see any tar.bz2. How does GRP packages exist in the livecd ? Scattered through the many files that exist ?

The most important question is this:
Can I install GRP packages with the older command line installation approach ?
If so, how?
(I don't plan to use the GTK/Dialog installer at all...)

Yes they are available, but I guess you have to live with using either the GTK+ based installer (which needs X) or the Dialog based installer.

They are the only GRP options.
