When I boot my computer, where evms is already installed
& in use, with the new livecd (1.4_rc3), I get the follwoing message when I start evmsn:

In fact "evmsn" doesn't detect the filesystems (ext2 & reiserfs) I installed on the different partitions / volumes.
What does this error-message mean?
Has anybody successfully installed evms and used the livecd to make changes like shrinking to the filesystem? |

I am having much the same problem.
I boot the livecd and run evmsn to set up mirrors and lvm but evms never seems to properly commit the changes to the disks. Let alone recognize what partitions/volumes I already have.
When I save changes evmsn says they are saved but if I use 'fdisk -l /dev/sda' to see if the changes are commited none show. Also /proc/evms/volumes,md,lvm never show the changes either.
Anyone have this problem or a solution to this?
I am going to try a rc2 or earlier CD to see if they work. |

I am afraid to say that evms is totally broken on the rc2-CD.
I have now installed Gentoo normally, with a small partition and installed evms later with the evms-Gentoo-kernel. Does work with lvm&reiserfs but not ext2/3.
I hope that on the final release of the 1.4 livcd, evms will work properly. |

Yep same here, used a live_rc1 cd last night and installed just like it should.
EVMS definitely is broken on the rc3 and rc2 cds.

Wow.
The discovery problems, the lost changes, it all sounds so familiar. I've had hell with EVMS on the 1.4_rc4 CD. I think its likely got the same problems as rc2-3.
I think I'm going to go make a rc1 CD.
I'm setting up a server, which should have mirrored 40G HD's, but evms keeps throwing me curve balls.
