Regarding this news announcement, would it be possible to have "young" users go directly to the search page as a reminder?

IMHO, that would annoy a lot of people who are new to gentoo, but experienced with open source projects. These people understand that it's really annoying to have to wade through four separate questions every day about the same thing and direct them all to the answer in the FAQ. Of course, this is just my opinion. :)

First, I don't expect this to actually happen as it would require non-standard phpbb changes.

However, adding a 'good netizen' property to users could assist in this. Whenever a moderator moves a thread, or 'slaps' a users hand, their 'good netizen' data will indicate they aren't. So, by default, noone would have this happen. As a users turns out to be a 'problem child', they would be sent to the search page etc.

Is it possible now, 2 years on?

PS. I found this topic only because masseya remembers this one and dumped mine to dups!

PS 2. Let me guess... pjp wasn't an admin then? :-)

It's certainly something we're willing to seriously consider.

It could also be great if someone improved the phpb search feature. If I were google I'd make a product which installs on a server that searches this type of forum
