|
|
I have just emerged Gnome2.2. Everything works but this:
1.- Nautilus doesn't preview text files, but it works with music / image files.
2.- The little "emblems" you add to your folders (draft, new, personal, etc...) are drawn on the top right of the folder icon, instead of the center of the icon as the used to. (This changes from theme to theme)
3.- GGV doesn't work anymore (it shows no text!). Xpdf is still fine.
4.- When I try to maximise a gterm icon, it fills all the screen but some pixels at the bottom. And gterm now is slower than it used to be on gnome2.0
5. When i right-click on a file or compressed file, instead of getting one line saying "add to package" or "extract package" i get 2 of them!!.
6. Gnome2.2 feels a bit slower
Thanks, and excuse my English. |

1 -it's normal (I think, because me too)
2 - Normal --> now emblems are managed by theme-icon
3 - Try to re emerge ggv
5 - me too (Perhaps it' normal)
6 - Not for me (Metacity is more than faster and Nautilus too) |

To make it faster you can try compiling gnome with -mcpu=<cpu name> -O3 -pipe
That will take a long time however, but I did it and it is noticeably faster. |

I have already tried with the best flags for my cpu:
CFLAGS="-O3 -march=athlon -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-loops -frerun-cse-after-loop -fexpensive-optimizations -funroll-all-loops -fschedule-insns2 "
Anyway, i think i will have to do some "gnome-hacking" |

re: text previews in nautilus
i've posted a remedy if you still can't get this working, and you're using a non-standard icon theme....
