Well not officially, I like to stalk FTP servers though...
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/desktop/2.1/2.1.91/
Let us all commence the "foser... ebuild... foser... ebuild... foser... ebuild" chant =)
Gnome 2.2 Final is scheduled for Febuary 5th, so as many as possible please use this and find/report bugs so Final can become as good as possible.
Will this make it into Portage despite the freeze? Would make good practice for Final _________________ Gentoo | AMD X2 3800+ 2GB RAM | Kernel 2.6.30 . ReiserFS . CFQ . GCC4.3.3 | Firefox 3.5 | Gnome 2.26 w/ Compiz-Fusion

And I would like to repeat Foser's request that others not put ebuilds in this thread. He will have his in a few days. |

David_Escott, I will concur with foser asking others not to post their builds on this forum. However, let's not lose sight that in a few days it will be the 5th. Yes, foser is quick with builds, when he has the time. I am hoping he releases his soon myself.
Karl
to the Gentoo Developers: PLEASE don't release Gentoo 1.4 until Gnome 2.2 is out! It's coming out soon enough, and we've waited long enough for 1.4, that waiting longer isn't that big of a deal. But to give all the glory to kde and to shaft gnome by releasing before 2.2 ebuilds are in portage would be a shame. |

Actually the decision regarding 1.4 and gnome has already been made (at least according to my understanding) and gnome 2.2 will not be included in 1.4 (but then again neither will kde 3.1) so I don't think gnome is getting the shaft so to speak with respect to kde. |

hmmmm..well, good to see the desktops being treated fairly...however, I thought that the reason 1.4 was being held was for the inclusion of kde 3.1....as long as they've held it they may as well include it now, but that is there decision to make, and I trust they have good reason for deciding not to include it. |

Gentoo Linux KDE 3.1 ebuilds
Posted on 28th January 2003 by klieber
The ebuilds have x86 and ppc stable keywords.

Additionally, we have information about the next release of Gentoo Linux 1.4, including a freeze to the Portage tree as 1.4_final/rc3 moves into the next stage in the formal release process discussed last week.

So my way of reading it is that kde3.1 is not officially in portage (ie it is in unstable). Foser made the decision not to include gnome 2.2 prereleases in portage even in this unofficial manner, I suspect he will include the 2.2 release when it does come out under ~x86 keywords. |

Code: | matje@lambik matje $ emerge kde -p
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

KDE 3.1 is unmasked in the portage tree, so anyone installing 1.4_final, will also be installing KDE 3.1 if they choose for KDE... _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates... Before you know it, it's empty... |

Just noticed on another thread that Spider has released a set of ebuilds for gnome 2.2rc2. Which is somewhat confusing. Who is the release manager? I'm so confused. |

ANARCHY!!!! Dogs n cats living to together! Mass chaos!
Spider was the original Gnome maintainer. He is responsible for the update from 1.4 to 2.x... AFAIK, there is no "official" release manager for the Gnome development builds.
Really folks, other than the confusion, what does it matter who releases the ebuilds... Personally, all I care about is working ebuilds. |
