Somehow my libacl.so.1 file got deleted (portage says the package is still installed) Can someone post a copy of theirs so I can plug it and re-emerge my packages!? Because apparently NOTHING works without it.

Just remove "acl" from your USE flag and emerge --newuse world.

I cant even re-emerge coreutils - what is the best course of action please? - this really is NOT good...

added: --newuse does not work either - everything is screwed...

You can't reemerge anything until you put back the missing libraries.
I had them on a backup, i don't know exactly where you can find them already compiled, but search the forum for this problem, there are many many posts.
