Hi all,

I get the following error when I try to emerge kdenetwork:

>>> Test phase [not enabled]: app-crypt/qca-tls-1.0
touch: cannot touch `.tested': Permission denied

!!! ERROR: app-crypt/qca-tls-1.0 failed.
!!! Function dyn_test, Line 940, Exitcode 1
!!! Failed to 'touch .tested' in /var/tmp/portage/qca-tls-1.0
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

I already did a "emerge sync" from different servers; didn't help.

Any suggestions :?:

Here it is:

tux root # emerge kdenetwork
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 2) app-crypt/qca-tls-1.0 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) qca-tls-1.0.tar.bz2
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking qca-tls-1.0.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/qca-tls-1.0/work
* Applying qca-pathfix.patch ... [ ok ]>>> Source unpacked.
Configuring qca-tls ...
Verifying Qt 3.x Multithreaded (MT) build environment ... ok
Checking for OpenSSL ... yes

Good, your configure finished. Now run 'make'.

g++ -c -pipe -Wall -W -O2 -D_REENTRANT -fPIC -DQCA_PLUGIN -DOSSL_097 -DQT_NO_DEBUG -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT -DQT_PLUGIN -mcpu=i586 -march=i586 -mmmx -m3dnow -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -I/usr/qt/3/mkspecs/linux-g++ -I/var/tmp/portage/qca-tls-1.0/work/qca-tls-1.0 -I/usr/qt/3/include -o qca-tls.o qca-tls.cpp
rm -f libqca-tls.so
g++ -Wl,-rpath,/usr/qt/3/lib -shared -o libqca-tls.so qca-tls.o -L/usr/qt/3/lib -lssl -lcrypto -lqt-mt -lpthread
>>> Test phase [not enabled]: app-crypt/qca-tls-1.0

try removing userpriv and usersandbox from your features statement, and let me know how it goes.

Many thanks, that did the trick! :D
I always emerge as root, so why are userpriv and usersandbox causing the problem?

those features are designed to allow portage (which you're running as root) to drop to non-root status for building packages as a security measure. some ebuilds don't work properly. afaik, the "touch .tested" error is typically a file permission error that is brought about by incorrect handling of file privs when portage drops to non-root user status.

this is a problem with the ebuild that needs to be reported. if you have not already filed a bug report on this issue, please do so now at https://bugs.gentoo.org
