If you click the link and look, you will see they made it available to FreeBSD users. Instead of thread crapping, why dont you look at it first..

So how is FreeBSD supposed to run a Win32 executable?

There is a hardocp article referencing it:

http://www.hardocp.com/

Quote:

DirectX 9.0c For FreeBSD:
Something everyone overlooked when DirectX 9.0c redistributable was released last month, the release also includes FreeBSD as a supported OS. You alternative OS guys will be interested in this one. Thank Tom Jordan for pointing this out.

This download provides the DirectX 9.0c end-user multi-languaged redistributable that developers can include with their product. The redistributable license agreement covers the terms under which developers may use the Redistributable. Supported Operating Systems: FreeBSD.

This tweaks my curiousity.

But I'm hoping that developers still realize that OpenGL is much better than DX. (Although if this gets HL2 ported to GNU/Linux or FreeBSD quicker, I'll be a happy camper )

It seems that it's no longer there. Here's the current page:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=143ef8c6-cff7-4af0-8209-1cdf49c58bc0&DisplayLang=en

And here's the Google cache of it:

http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:AjnCHawlpW4J:www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx%3FFamilyID%3D143ef8c6-cff7-4af0-8209-1cdf49c58bc0%26displaylang%3Den+freebsd+directx&hl=en

Maybe it was a joke or something?

It's just that M$ loves B$D, their license is so liberal that M$ can steal their code (tcp/ip stack...) without the troubles of the GPL. FreeBSD :?: steal me-BSD :!:
