Hello,
please have a look also at https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=1650398

My serial port seems broken, but under winXP it runs.

My Palm Vx is recognized but can't be read:

Code:

pilot-xfer -L
No $PILOTPORT specified and no -p <port> given.
   Defaulting to '/dev/pilot'

   Listening to port: /dev/pilot

Please press the HotSync button now... Connected

PADP TX Unexpected packet, possible port speed problem?

Code:

coldsync -v -p /dev/tts/0  -t serial -mb ~/palmbackup/
Please press the HotSync button.
ACK Timeout. Attempting to resend.
##### Got an unexpected data packet. Sending an ACK to shut it up.

Error establishing CMP connection.
Error: Can't connect to Palm.

My chipdrive Micro fun don't work also:
Code:

The serial port seems to work with the kernel:
dmesg

    Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 8 ports, IRQ sharing disabled
    ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
    ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A

My Hardware:
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (onboard serial)

Kernel:
gentoo-dev-sources - 2.6.8-gentoo-r8
udev is running (I hope)

/dev/pilot --> /dev/tts/0

I don't know what to do!
What settings for the Kernel are important?
Is /dev/tts/0 correct? Is it the same as ttyS0?
If you want have a look at my kernel-settings:
http://www.kreth.mine.nu/kernel-config-x86-2.6.8-gentoo-r8

Anybody any idea?
Hopefully

Maybe this is helpful. I found the setserial - command:
setserial /dev/tts/0
/dev/tts/0, UART: 16450, Port: 0x03f8, IRQ: 4

Can somebody tell me if UART is correct?

Hi again,
i tried the cd-Linux knoppix 3.6 and the palm-pilot works.

but setserial sais:
Code:

setserial /dev/pilot
/dev/pilot, UART: 16550A, Port: 0x03f8, IRQ: 4

So i'll try to set this UART-thing.
Can anybody tell me what that means????

This worked:

setserial /dev/pilot uart 16550A

With the other uart the palm-sync runs.
