Ie been setting up my sistem for couple of weeks now, and just when I thought I was finished, disaster struck me. I had a power outrage and all of the files in /var/lib/portage where corupted. Anything else seems to be functioning fine, except emerge. I managed to recreate the world file from the listings of the /var/db/pkg/ directory, but I have one problem now. when I do an emerge -p world, i can see that all of the packages I have installed are there (as far as I can remember), but emerge world wants to downgrade a lot of the packages.

I use a stage 1 install system with ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86"

Anyhow, here is a listing of part of the world file I´ve recreated

Code:

sys-libs/libtermcap-compat
kde-base/kdelibs
net-dialup/gammu
sys-apps/qtparted
x11-themes/gentoo-artwork
gnome-extra/gucharmap
dev-libs/libgcrypt
sys-libs/lib-compat
media-libs/libart_lgpl
sys-libs/ncurses
dev-libs/libpcre
app-admin/gnomesu
net-wireless/wireless-tools
gnome-base/gnome-keyring
app-misc/obexftp
net-fs/autofs
dev-perl/IO-Socket-SSL
app-crypt/opencdk
media-libs/libvorbis
x11-terms/gnome-terminal
sys-apps/findutils
sys-apps/utempter
gnome-base/libbonobo
x11-terms/xterm
media-libs/imlib
app-portage/gentoolkit
x11-misc/ttmkfdir
net-irc/xchat
app-shells/tcsh
sys-devel/autoconf

and here is a list of

Code:

emerge -p world

I like to know if there is anything I´m missing in the world file or if you have any idea why would emerge want to downgrade my system now?

Have you run emerge sync before a emerge -u world? That would be my procedure to update a system.

yes I have.

and it still happens

Can anyone here that uses ~x86 keword post a sample of his world file, I just want to see if the newer packages (those from ~x86 like gnome 2.8 have a version number at the end.).

Oh yes, and I´d like to know if there are other files in /usr/lib/portage, that I mught need.

The last thing I did just now, was emerge portage,
and then emerge sync

that way now when I do emerge -pw world I see only newer packages and no downgradeas, so I guess everything shopuld be back to normal (I hope so)

Anyhow, I´d still like to know if there is anything else i need in my world file, or any other files in the /usr/portage dirs.

You can regerate your world file with " regenworld " which is part of portage.
