I can't unmount Cdrom devices when any konqueror (file/web) window is open.
I had this trouble before with kde 3.0.2 but it was fixable by disabling FAM-oss. Fam kept the device busy when mounted. Now I don't have fam enabled and konq for some reason keeps the device busy until I close all windows of konq, (the are not "on" the cd mountpoint.)
I checked which program had the CD mount busy and it is indeed konqueror.
Quite anoying , maybe there is a way around this. Anyone? Is it fixed in rc3? Should I file a bug report?

I'd just stop using Konkeror (did I mention that I hate it?)

Seriously, posting a BugReport would be the better thing to do, if the problem isn't on the user, of course... ;-)

What I will use and not use is not the issue here.

The problem is that I don't know if the problem lies in a setting, in KDE or in Gentoo. Therefore I wanted to know if anyone else has found and solved this problem before I start clogging up bug report systems.

I finished emerging kde3.1_rc3 and the same problem exists so it might be wise to make a bug report.

I haven't filed a bug with KDE before. If you know how, feel free to do it.
Let us know. Otherwise I'll look into it and make bug report

UPDATE:
I just checked bugs.kde.org and found a few report of this already.
They all seem to apply to kde 3.0.x however. I'll look for more..

UPDATE2:
A fix might be to modify the kdelibs ebuild to include -disable-dnotify instead of -enable-dnotify in the configure options ($myconf) I have already tried removing -enable-dnotify, but that didn't help. Maybe it is turned on by default. When I have time I will try with -disable-dnotify, but my old duron 900 is not exactly quick with kde compiles :(

I checked kde's bug database and found out that someone said this mount problem was fixed on kde3.1beta2.

btw. what side-effects
Code:
--disable-dnotify
has? I'm going to try it before submitting the bug to bugs.kde.org.

It seems that unmounting problems disappeared after compiling kdelibs with --disable-dnotify. I made a comment to existing bug report http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37780

I can confirm the latter!

(I Also disabled libfam. Is it necessary to fix this problem?)

Changed the myconf line in the ebuild that contains the libfam and dnotify from:
Code:

--enable-libfam --enable-dnotify

to:
Code:

--disable-libfam --disable-dnotify

Another annoying showstopper to kingdom come. I wonder if the kde ebuild maker(s) is/are going to do anything about this...
