i recently swapped my geforce in for a radeon 9800pro. I have built a fresh kernel with the stuff i need turned on (i think), i have emerged ati-drivers and run fglrxconfig to setup my XF86Config.

X loads fine, but when i run glxinfo i get:
name of display: :0.0
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".

i have Load "glx" in the XF86Config.

im really not sure where to start solving this.

these are the warnings in /var/log/XFree86.0.log:
(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such file or directory)
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module GLcore
(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found

im guessing that dri stuff will need to be dealt with aswell :p

thanx in advance if you can help :)

try first this.

I don't use kernel agpgart

But if you want to use kernel agpgart don't forget to load mudule.

modprobe agpgart

Are you linkink your linux correct ?

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Ago 10 13:35 linux -> linux-2.6.7-gentoo-r12/
drwxr-xr-x 19 root root 1272 Ago 9 23:30 linux-2.6.7-gentoo-r11
drwxr-xr-x 19 root root 1240 Ago 11 04:12 linux-2.6.7-gentoo-r12
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 72 Jul 23 06:07 xorg-x11-6.7.0-r2

Try to do all install again.

Code:
opengl-update xfree
emerge -C ati-drivers
emerge ati-drivers
opengl-update ati
modeprobe intel_agp

use external agpgart not internal.

Note: see my xorg-x11 and compare to your XF86config

i figured out that X couldn't load glx because glcore was missing so i re-emerged xfree and then opengl-update ati as usual, now everything works fine.
