|
|
I have been having trouble all along with my computer failing to properly compile various ebuilds. The assumption was that it is due to memory/hardware problems or misconfiguration, but my brother's computer with Gentoo on it also seems to be having trouble compiling various ebuilds - but then "emerge --resume" will work if you try a few times I ran memtest86+ and memory is found to be okay. I guess it could be motherboard, but why is my brother's machine failing sometimes too - although not as often? Here's some output for you to analyze:
| Code: |

LC_ALL=C ../intltool-merge ../po acme.desktop.in acme.desktop -d -u -c ../po/.intltool-merge-cache
Generating and caching the translation database

Even "emerge --resume" can't save me from this error! I have tried building lower version of this app to no avail. They all fail at the same spot. I usually get many errors/system halts on larger packages like Firefox, OpenOffice so only building from binaries work for such large apps. BTW, I just changed to ~x86 thinking it would fix the emerge problems, but they are still there. The errors shouldn't have anything to do with the fact that I am running latest packages *unless it is gcc 3.3.4 itself). Let me hear your thoughs on this and if anyone else has experienced this sort of problem...

I've been fighting with this same issue for two days, also. I get the same error message,
and can't get Gnome (any of the available ebuilds) to install.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
EDIT: UPDATE
found a solution here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=207330
thanks to HaLCy0n! |

I encountered this problem and the previously mentioned solution did not help me.
After doing some digging around I realized that the "do_close_window_action" is within the "x11-libs/libwnck" package. It seems to me that the latest stable version of libwnck is not compatible with acme. So I downgraded it and then acme emerged fine. In short i did this:
| Code: |
emerge =x11-libs/libwnck-2.6.0.1
emerge acme
|
hope it works for you too
