Where'd you get that XMMS skin? Looks nice. :) However, why are you signed in as root? That's dangerous. 8)

This is winamp skin. You can get it form there I'm using root account from begining - I am only one that using this machine and I like have access to everything like in Windows 2000. So far no problems with security stuff :P

Wallpapers comes from http://www.webagent007.com/ - really nice site. I changed it a little - background was too dark.

I have access to everything via su in a terminal, but I don't prefer to leave the option open for malicious software to make its way into my computer while browsing. I just don't like to let anyone catch me with my pants down ready to take a leak. 8)

Awesome demonstration taviso.
I've never tried fvwm before, never really thought about it even, but after your presentation it's starting to look very interesting. There do seem to be a few... unnecessary (in terms of eyecandy) features, but overall it looks great.
Let's see if it replaces flux :)

Thanks again.

Mind sharing the theme? And what commands are you passing to urxvt to get that transparency? Thanks in advance.

I have uploaded the theme to my site.

And I have some urxvt options set in my .Xdefaults file to give it the fonts....

Thanks heaps man! Lack of a good, usable theme was keeping me away from fluxbox and pekwm, but you've saved the day. :)

The video played fine for me. It seems as if there was an error in setting the screen size. Perhaps you could try:

mplayer -vm -x 1024 -y 768 tour.mpeg.gz

See how that works. 8)

It still doesn't work. I could play other movies anyway.

Yeah, but this one's resolution is huge. What screen resolution do you use? That would help me a little better.

I wanted to check out the wallpapers, but I can't seem to find where they are. As a web developer myself, I know many tricks for making a good site (mine gets over 50 hits a day when the bandwidth is still available) and the way it's designed looks kind of crappy to me. Too much flash and "flashy" animation without enough content.

I just started tinkering with fvwm, and I must say I'm overwhelmed with the size of this configuration file. It's so in depth in fact, that it's almost not worth experimenting in that I can spend that time doing other things.
Is there a beginners fvwm site somewhere, or is it all in these man pages?

Yeah, the video is all sorts of jacked. First off, don't gunzip it, cause it doesn't seem to be a valid gz. Second of all, mplayer gives this:

Playing tour.mpeg.gz.
MPEG-ES file format detected.
size restrictions for MP@ML or MPEG1 exceeded! (1152x864)
VIDEO: MPEG1 1152x864 (aspect 1) 23.976 fps 12690.8 kbps (1586.4 kbyte/s)
vo: X11 running at 1280x960 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local display)

And I end up with just the left side of the window showing.

i don't think the problem is with the video. worked perfectly for me without modifying it or passing any command line flags.

Now that I'm all gentoo and no windows I had to redo my desktop. Here is the final version. I think I will be able to live with this until Xfce4.2 gets into portage and out of CVS. I got a big gdesklet starterbar on the right and torsmo on the left. The screenshot is funny looking because Xfce4.05 doesn't properly support Xinerama yet. All my icons are gentoo icons, some I had to make myself, check the icons thread. And the background is svg from the lila wiki I think. Also, I completely got rid of any visible part of XMMS except for xmms osd plugin as you can see. I used xbindkeys to completey control everything through the extra buttons on my wireless logitech keyboard. I even have a button that makes xmms become visible so I can muck with the playlist.

Oh, and I bet you can't guess what that is I'm doing on the right screen :)

My Awesome New Desktop
