I recently put Gentoo on yet another machine, this one a dual Xeon (Prestonia) system... Aside from this one problem, everything works exceptionally well.
I emerged gentoo-stats (0.5.1), ran "gentoo-stats --new" which gave me a system id, then I put "gentoo-stats --update" into my crontab and forgot about it.
When it actually ran a few days later, an error showed up in my logs. Running it from the command line gives the same error.
# gentoo-stats --update
Error connecting to server: junk after document element: line 2, column 0
With the exception of SYSTEM_ID and SYSTEM_NAME, my gentoo-stats.conf is the same as my other Gentoo boxes. To make sure that I somehow didn't get a bum tarball, I also ran diff on the executable (the python script) on this system and one from one of my other Gentoo boxes. diff returned 0.
I hosed my SYSTEM_ID, and got a new one (just to rule that out), but the problem remains.
With that in mind, I am at a bit of a loss in terms of what is actually causing this error.
(No, I am not behind a firewall such that I have to set up a proxy).
The main difference between this machine and the rest of my systems is that my other machines are PIII's (and 1 Athlon). I really don't think that because this system sees four logical processors that python is freaking out. Is there some obscure python bug here? Probably not as python works well elsewhere (many system scripts rely on it).
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Same problem here, though I run this system under User Mode Linux.
I filed the bug report number 54727.
