|
|
I have had this really irritating problem for the last month that when I boot my gentoo
box into gdm, my mouse would work fine by none of the keyboard input would make it into
X. The only way to remedy it was to log in via ssh and exec /etc/init.d/xdm stop/start. This
gets really irritating after a while.
Also, the problem wasn't limited to gdm. Starting X with startx would cause the same "dead
keyboard" problems. Again, logging in remotely and killing x and rerunning startx would usually
(90% of the time) cause the keyboard to start working.
I was getting very fed-up with this system. I started disabling services on boot until I
discovered that disabling the numlock option caused my keyboard to work immediately.
(To do this, run rc-update del numlock).
I am not sure exactly why this is, but I was very happy to have it fixed.
Thanks,
Smartiq
Note: The effected numlock was in baselayout-1.8.12 _________________ How many microns in a micrometer? |

| You might want to file a bug report for this, if it isn't fixed in the latest ebuilds. |
