|
|
I was running into a pretty terrible problem on several of my Gentoo boxes, where doing an emerge -Du would fail as follows:
| Code: |
cod root # emerge -pvDu world
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies \
emerge: there are no masked or unmasked ebuilds to satisfy ">=virtual/jdk-1.3*".
!!! Problem with ebuild dev-db/unixODBC-2.2.6
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.
!!! Depgraph creation failed.
|
...unixODBC doesn't require java, though. Doing an "equery depgraph unixODBC" led to me to the culprit, though, which is that I had built postgres against the IBM jdk, which is now totally masked and has been moved from dev-java/ibm-jdk to dev-java/ibm-jdk-bin, I think.
I'm using postgresql-7.4.2-r1. I just edited the ebuild file to utilize the Sun JDK rather than virtual/jdk-1.3*. I'm waiting to see if this works. Has anyone else run into this problem? Does anyone else have a solution? |

I fixed the problem, I think, by unmerging ibm-jdk. At that point, the virtual/jdk pointed to a package that portage felt was stable and usable (sun-jdk).
So does this mean that ibm's jdk needs to be unmerged at this point? |

| Actually there were two ebuilds one for ibm-jdk and yhe other for ibm-jdk-bin, both were basically same. Recently ibm-jdk was removed, hence all the confusion on updating world, I think. |
