|

Hi
I need some custom keybindings for my laptop keyboard which I earlier used xmodmap for. But in gnome 2.6 this doesn't seem to work, and the keyboard configuration menu doesn't have any options that help.
How does one make custom keybindings in gnome 2.6?
/Martin

If you use gconf-editor (should be in the menu Applications -> System Tools -> Configuration Editor):
Click Apps -> Metacity -> Keybinding_commands
Then edit command_n (where n is in the range 1-12)
For value: enter the path to the program you want to start (with switches if you like)
Then choose Global_keybindings, and edit run_command_n
For the key combination, just follow the syntax in the other bindings.
And there you have it
I myself usually have <control><shift>F7 and <control><shift>F8 bound to xmms -r and -f
Of course you could also choose another WM...
Edit: hmm.. it's possible I misread your post |

You probably did, or perhaps my question was unclear.
I'm looking for the possibility to change e.g. shift - A, so that when i type <shift> A i get a small c for example. |

Ha ha, that solved it!
I have a .Xmodmap in my ~ directory which was "automatically" used in gnome 2.4 but in 2.6 that doesn't seem to be the case, but after running xmodmap .Xmodmap everything works.
Thanks
