i am using qingy on a p2 350 with 384mb of ram. i alternated between windowmaker and fluxbox (default versions of each), ran a top and grabbed the appropriate lines.

is this what you guys found ? windowmaker is eating up less memory.

thoughts and comments welcome.

perhaps someone can correct on my "numbers". did i do it right ? i just wanted to get some measure of numbers usage. i did it twice just to confirm what i saw.

but does this hold any validity ?

hopefully the elders may guide me better.

Which flux version did you try - 0.1.14 or 0.9.x? If it was 0.9.x branch then the comparason is not fair, cause it uses pixmap themes.

i was using fluxbox 0.9.9. i just had a solid color background. i am not quite sure what a pixmap theme does.

I believe what a pixmap theme is is basically a bunch of images that get plastered everywhere (needs ram, as must store them) vs. a formula or "put blue everywhere" type of thing.

But I could be out in left field somewhere, so don't quote me.
