Hi there.

After this intall of gentoo, I'm having trouble with those apps that still use the old gtk.
For example grip:
Code:

USE="xinerama 3dfx 3dnow aalib aavm acpi alsa bonobo cscope cups dvd emacs encode evo fbcon \
cddbcjk doc  gif gb gtkhtml jpeg kde mozilla mmx mpeg ncurses mule oggvorbis pdflib perl \
png python qt readline samba spell sse ssl slang svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff \
truetype xmms pcmcia png zlib X gtk gtk1 gtk2 gnome gnome fbcon fftw pnp tpctlir gstreamer\
pnp tpctlir -acl -ldap kerberos krb4"

Code:
cervinia root # emerge -pv grip

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild   R   ] media-sound/grip-3.0.7  +nls +oggvorbis  0 kB

The installation was performed flawlesly, but when I run grip, I just get a window with the tabs for [tracks, rip, config...] but nothing else, under the tab of tracks, there is no container (I don know the name of the related widget) for the tracks to rip.. no buttons or displays....

There is something wrong with my USE words, do you have an idea on how to fix this?

thanks in advance.

Thank you.

It just was matter of drop the -msse flag from the CFLAGS and then run:

Code:
emerge -av /usr/portage/x11-libs/gtk+/gtk+-1.2.10-r11.ebuild

In my setup it was a matter of dropping the -msse2 CFLAGS in /etc/make.conf.

Re-emergeing gtk-1.2.10-r11 and now everything works as it should.

I've filed a bug-report (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50616), but it seems like the maintainers of the package are unwilling to even put it in as a notice in the ebuild if you encounter this kind of problem.

That's a bit harsh, I think.

If anyone else has had this problem, please post your comments in bugzilla, so the author of the ebuild can change it to at least mention the problems with SSE/SSE2 in gtk+-1.2.10-r11.
