|
|
A while ago I found this site. Where you can download 'Lode Runner Online' for free. (Yes it's legal )
I just tested it, and the game seems to work perfectly with Wine.
A few things to note:
1. You need to run the game with Wine in a window. (640x480 works best)
2. After starting the installer, and you get the 'System Test' dialog, select NO
3. When the 'System Results' dialog says: "We're sorry, but your system... bla bla... Continue Installing" Select YES. And do the 'Large install'
4. In the 'Destination Directory' dialog just select OK to the suggested dir. (It will be installed in /tmp/SIERRA/LODERUN/)
5. After the files are installed you get a few error dialogs. Just click OK on all of them and the installer will finish.
Now copy or move the /LODERUN directory in /tmp/SIERRA/ to: ~/games/ or something... And run the LODERUN.EXE with Wine

If anyone manages to get this game working in two-player network mode using IPX. Please post how you did it
I've been trying to get it working but, I have no experience using IPX, so I'm not shure I've got IPX running right.
This is what I've done so far...
Enabled the IPX protocol in the kernel <M> and loaded the module
emerged ipx-tools and ncpfs
Code: |
# ipx_configure --auto_interface=on --auto_primary=on
# /etc/init.d/ipx start
|
ifconfig gives me this:
Code: |
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0C:6E:A6:1B:51
inet addr:192.168.0.2 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255 .0
IPX/Ethernet 802.2 addr:00000001:000C6EA61B51
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:139 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:168 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:91779 (89.6 Kb) TX bytes:19224 (18.7 Kb)
Interrupt:11 Memory:de800000-0
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:128 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:128 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:10227 (9.9 Kb) TX bytes:10227 (9.9 Kb)

Looks right??
Now, when I try to host or join a network game I get the message: "Please wait, establishing network identity..." But nothing happens after that.
And if I do: Code: | /etc/init.d ipx/stop | I get this message: Quote: | * Bringing IPX down...
/sbin/ipx_interface: Unable to open "/proc/net/ipx_interface."
* Failed to down IPX |
So I guess I'm doing something wrong...
If you happen to know what I'm doing wrong please tell me |

This is awesome! First of all I have been trying to find this game for a long time. Thank you for the link! Lode Runner and Lode Runner 2 is available. That is great. Secondly, it is running perfectly under WineX! This made my day. Thank you so much. |
