Before I updated from kde-3.1.4 to kde-3.1.5 I added the following to /etc/profile

Code:
export DO_NOT_COMPILE="KDat KEduca KGeo KHangMan Kiten KLettres KMessedWords KStars KTouch kverbos KVocTrain  aKtion Kaboodle Kmid Kmidi Noatun Kit KNewsTicker Knode KOrn kpf KPPP krfb KSirc KTalkd KAlarm Kandy KNotes KOrganizer KPilot AMOR KMoon kodo KTeaTime kweather KWorldClock"

But when my pc finnished the compile I noticed that all the progs above were still compiled.
Before I upgrade to kde-3.2 I want to get this fixed. Did emerge compile the progs because they were still in the world file? and do I've to unmerge them first. Or, more likely, I'll have to add the DO_NOT_COMPILE sentence to another file ( perhaps /etc/make.conf)

Thanks for your quick reply, it has to be in /etc/make.conf then. Still one question to be sure do you have export DO_NOT.... or only DO_NOT....

And how did it do kdelibs for you. You had no problem?
I had to leave out the kdelibs (doing a recompile to remove stuff so already emerged before) because it failed. Have seen other threads also that say doesn't seem to work with kdelibs.

It would appear your mileage was different.

the problem is that you have some of them in uppercase. they need to be lowercase since they roughly coorespond to directory names, and Linux is case sensitives when it comes to the file system.

Noticed that also. I put all mine lowercase and could watch while compiling that said no to not compile them.
The only booboo I made at first was putting commas between the apps. But caught it quickly enough.

Is there some list of all apps installed by any kde-packets? Or should I go through /usr/kde/3.x/bin/ and list every one I don't like to have?
