Thinking about playing with nptl on my smp box however...

My currently installed version of glibc doesn't list nptl as a flag
Code:
emerge -pv glibc

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild   R   ] sys-libs/glibc-2.3.2-r9  +nls -pic -build

Where as this one does
Code:
emerge -pv /usr/portage/sys-libs/glibc/glibc-2.3.3_pre20040117-r1.ebuild

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild     U ] sys-libs/glibc-2.3.3_pre20040117-r1 [2.3.2-r9] +nls -pic -build -nptl

So do I have to emerge the latest pre release of glibc in order to use nptl? (and is that wise?)

I do not know if it is wise, but you have to use the version with nptl flag.
